FALL SESSION : SEPTEMBER 10th – DECEMBER 7th

Trial Class (Open to all ages)

  • New students may take one trial class for $15. The fee can be applied to the monthly tuition if the student continues for the remainder of the session.

Keiki Hula (Girls – Thursday:ages 6 to 12 years / Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday: ages 8 to 12 years)

  • Beginning I – Kaikamahine This class is for new, beginning level girls ages 6-12 years, enrolling in their first full session. The focus is on developing a strong foundation of hula basics and a love and respect for the Hula and the Hawaiian culture. Classes are taught in a positive learning environment with Hawaiian values and precious life skills integrated into the learning process.
  • Beginning II/Intermediate – Kaikamahine This class is for new, beginning level girls ages 8-12 years, enrolling in their first full session. The focus is on developing a strong foundation of hula basics and a love and respect for the Hula and the Hawaiian culture. Beginning II students may also attend as an additional class per week. Classes are taught in a positive learning environment with Hawaiian values and precious life skills integrated into the learning process.
  • Performance/Competition – Kaikamahine This class is for Intermediate I & II level girls ages 8-12 years. Students must have completed the beginning level I & II class session, should know the oli kahea (entrance chant), and hula basics. The focus is on timing, posture and the continuted devlopment of basics with proper posture, and gracefulness. Children are also taught hula protocol, and ettiquette, with the goal of developing love and respect for the Hula and the Hawaiian culture. Classes are taught in a positive learning environment with Hawaiian values and precious life skills integrated into the teaching process.
    **Students must commit to 2 classes per week to participate also must have Kumu’s approval.

Hula Taught in Japanese Language

  • Mised Level Hula – Japanese This class is for beginning and intermediate adult hula students, and is taught in the Japanese language. Hawaiian terms are used for basics, motions, kahea.

Kupuna Hula

  • Intermediate Kupuna Women and Men ages 55 years and older with at least one beginning session of hula is required before entering this class or students with past hula experience should have approval from Kumu Kau’i.

Wahine & Kane Hula

  • Beginning Hula This class is for men and women ages 13 years and older. This class is for new students with no hula experience or for returning students that have completed the Beginning I session.
  • Beginning II/Intermediate Hula This hula class is for boys, men and couples. You do not have to have a partner for couples class. (Ages 13 & Up)
  • Intermediate/Advanced Hula This class is for students that have completed the beginning I session, and for students that have completed beginning I & II. The focus of this hula kahiko (ancient) and ‘auana (modern) class is on timing, posture and the continued development of basics with proper posture, and gracefulness. Students are also taught hula protocol, and etiquette, with the goal of developing love and respect for the Hula and the Hawaiian culture. Classes are taught in a positive learning environment with Hawaiian values and precious life skills integrated into the teaching process.

Competition Classes (Women – ages 13 years and older)

  • Competition Wahine This very special class is for dedicated advance level students that are ages 13 & up, and have been recommended/approved by Kumu Kau’i. Students are required to attend class on a consistent and regular schedule, and are allowed only 3 absences in the 20 week session. For additional information, contact an alaka’i.

  • Competition Makuahine This very special class is for dedicated advance level students that are ages 35 & up, and have been recommended/approved by Kumu Kau’i. Students are required to attend class on a consistent and regular schedule, and are allowed only 3 absences in the 20 week session. For additional information, contact an alaka’i.
